Folsom City Council incumbents lead in preliminary election results

While it could take several days to receive all of the mail-in ballots from Tuesday's election, early results show a combination of strong runs as well a couple of close races when it comes to Folsom's closely-watched candidates. As of press time on Wednesday, Sacramento County Elections had released its semi-final results report. The next release and first interim report is routinely posted by 4 p.m. the Friday after Election Day, according to county officials. Those results are expected to show significant changes to the early numbers so far that were last reported at 12 a.m. Nov.9. In the race for Folsom City Council District 1, Mike Kozlowski leads early with 65.90% of the vote over Michael Reynolds at 34.10%. In this race, there were 26.52% reporting. In District 3, Sarah Aquino is at 65.90% over Bill Miklos with 25.52% and Albina Suarex-Ojedis with 9.13%. Early results are 20.80% reporting. In District 5, Kerri Howell was leading early with 52.93% over Anna Rohrbough at 47.07%. A total of 19.64% of precincts were reporting in this race. In the anticipated close race for District 7 State Assembly, Ken Cooley holds a narrow lead of 50.33% with Folsom resident Josh Hoover at 46.67%. In this race, there were 18.58% reporting. In the locally watched race for State Senator District 6, Roger Niello leads the first round numbers with 55.97% over Paula Villescaz at 46.03%. Reporting: 18.81%. In other local races, Area 1 for the Folsom Cordova Unified School Board show Kara L. Lofthouse leading with 53.33% of the votes over Jennifer Tarbox showing 46.67%. Area 5 for the Folsom Cordova Unified School Board show candidate Jen Laret leading early with 58.66% and Ed Short at 41.34%. Reporting: 12.60%. In the California House of Representatives for District 3, early numbers show Kevin Kiley leading with 53.1% over newcomer Kermit Jones with 46.9%.
