William Pearson Kellogg 10/20/1947 - 10/3/2022

William Pearson Kellogg is a third generation Sacramentan who attended schools in South Sacramento graduating from McClatchy High School in 1965 where he was active in Young Life and First Covenant Church. He began attending Sacramento City College in 1965 and enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1966 serving until 1972. Corporal Kellogg served at Camp Pendleton. He went on to graduate from CSU Sacramento in 1972 with degrees in philosophy and psychology, where he was active in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and Campus Crusade for Christ. Upon graduation he traveled to Switzerland and studied at L'Abri under Dr. Francis Schaeffer from Switzerland traveling to University of Frankfurt, Germany where he studied German language and culture before returning to the United States and enrolling in Dallas Theological Seminary in 1974; graduating in May, 1978. He and Susan married July 1, 1978 in Napa, California. Bill served on staff at Grace Baptist Church, Napa, from 1978-1979. Then he founded Trinity Fellowship for college students at UC Berkeley and ministered until 1991. In 1992-1997 he ministered at East Hills Community Church in Oakland, CA. In 1998 he was called to minister in Folsom, CA at Community Bible Church. He also taught graduate courses for Western Seminary. He left Community Bible Church in 2010 to minister at First Baptist Church, Sacramento. Bill loved classical music, the organ, the arts, and traveling the world. He and Susan attended many concerts at Sacramento Symphony and the Mondavi Center. He served on the Board of SCP (Spiritual Counterfeits Project) with Tal Brook in Berkeley for many years. He enjoyed reading, writing and sharing with others. He encouraged and mentored many young people, who appreciated his dry wit and sense of humor. Bill leaves behind his devoted wife of 44 years, Susan Kellogg, daughter Anneliese (Jordan-Shipley)(Mason) and son, Andrew Kellogg. He also leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Madeleine, William, Abigail Jordan and Morgan Shipley. He leaves a brother, Robert G. Kellogg, brothers-in-law Brian (Betsy) Hall and Kevin (Lezli) Hall and many nephews and a niece. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert E. & Marian Kellogg, and brother John N. Kellogg (Harriett). He is survived by many other family members. Memorial services were held on November 19th at Center of Praise Legacy Center (formerly First Baptist Church) in Sacramento. Interment was on November 21st in Oddfellows Cemetery in Sacramento.
