Tour de Lincoln a huge success

The 20th annual Tour de Lincoln charity bike ride on Oct. 15 was a resounding success, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors and volunteer workers. I want to thank our Platinum Sponsor, Sierra Pacific Foundation; our Major Sponsors; County of Placer, Fowler Ranch, PG&E, city of Lincoln and Barber Kenes Retirement Solutions; and our Partners, Cornerstone Associates Insurance and Gibson-Tuttle. Volunteers from the Lincoln Hills Cyclists marked three courses with direction arrows. Volunteers sorted food contributed by Raley's and Safeway for breakfast, rest stops and lunch. After a continental breakfast, more than 300 riders rode out on a beautiful fall Saturday morning enjoying the back roads surrounding Lincoln. Members of local service clubs (Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, and Lighthouse Counseling Center) staffed three rest stops, assisting riders with hydration and snacks. Members of the Western Placer Amateur Radio Club provided SAG support for all riders. Rest stop locations were provided by Mt. Pleasant Hall and Teichert & Sons, Inc. Mechanics from local bicycle shops, Raceday Cycle and CA Bike Pickers, assisted riders with mechanical problems. Rotary volunteers, led by Chef Bill Laube, prepared a barbecue lunch served to riders by members of the LIncoln High School, Twelve Bridges, and William Jessup University. Dueling Dogs Brewing Company and Dora Dain Winery served beer and wine. More than 130 community volunteers and business sponsors made this event a success. On behalf of the Lincoln Rotary Club Foundation, I want to thank our sponsors, volunteers and the 300-plus cyclists who came out to enjoy a beautiful bike ride and generated more than $20,000 for charity.
