Old Town Auburn hosts Old Town Christmas

Holiday shopping and Christmas traditions continue this season in Auburn with the Old Town Christmas scheduled on Saturdays, Dec. 10 and 17. The Old Town Auburn Business Association hosts the street-fair style community gathering that includes live music, food, photo ops with Santa and a curated artisan market. The evening events, scheduled from 5-9 p.m., include offerings from local breweries and wineries, food by brick-and-mortar restaurants and local food trucks, and an artisan market featuring local, handmade products. Vendors will be selling holiday gifts, including jewelry, macramé, fine art, handmade consumables (candies, cookies, etc.), pottery, clothing, candles, woodcrafts and more. "It's a great place to do that gift shopping for so many unique things," said Christine Ubbink, Old Town Business Association president. "There is no need for Amazon. Old Town Christmas will have so many handmade and locally made items." Santa will appear to visit with children and provide photo opportunities. On Dec. 17, Bella Rosa Photography will sponsor a toy giveaway for the families who visit Santa that night. Music and performances will also delight attendees at the beloved holiday event. Nathan North will perform Dec. 10 with Christmas classics, and Jimmy Overdrive is slated to play Dec. 17, featuring classic rock. In Sync Dance will be featured on stage Dec. 10. Culinary highlights include donuts, funnel cakes, Portuguese sweets, kettle corn and clam chowder served by the Auburn Hook & Ladder Company No. 1. The event will have two fire pit areas with wood provided by the city of Auburn. "It's a great place for people to come together and have a friendly gathering," Ubbink said.
