Sacramento man arrested following Auburn Home Depot robbery

A Sacramento man was arrested Dec. 14 in relation to a robbery at The Home Depot in Auburn. Placer County Sheriff's deputies responded to the store at 10:53 a.m. following a report of theft. According to the Sheriff's Office, a male suspect was captured on surveillance footage filling a shopping cart with high-end tools worth more than $1,000. The suspect walked out of the store and began loading the items into his vehicle. When the suspect was confronted by a loss prevention officer, the suspect began chest-bumping him. The Sheriff's Office confirmed the loss prevention officer was able to load the stolen items into the cart and return them to the store and the suspect left. According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspect, identified as Joshua Gutierrez, was located a short time later when a deputy conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle. Gutierrez was arrested for robbery. No in-custody information was located for Gutierrez. The Sheriff's Office reported Gutierrez's dog, Pedro, was taken by animal control officers while Gutierrez was in custody.
