Earl "Lucky" Gordon Johnson Jr 1/5/1949 - 2/8/2023

Earl "Lucky" Gordon Johnson Jr. passed away on February 8, 2023 in Roseville Ca., following a lengthy illness. Lucky was born Jan 5, 1949 to Earl Sr and Phyllis Johnson while stationed at Fort Devens in Massachusetts. Lucky grew up moving to several small logging towns in Oregon and California before permanently settling in Lincoln. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing and was excellent at roller skating in his youth. Moving to Lincoln in 1974, the family purchased property on Mt Pleasant Road and built a horse training and boarding facility, Far West Stables. Lucky never stopped talking about how much he loved working at the Erickson Lumber Mill with his father. After the mill closed, Lucky became a gifted farrier and enjoyed working with horses. A long-time active member of both Loyal Order of the Moose of Auburn #2264 and Native Sons of the Golden West-Auburn Lodge #59, Lucky enjoyed volunteering for events such as the Tevis Cup. He also enjoyed golfing, horseshoe leagues, and trips to Reno. Lucky particularly enjoyed fishing with family. He also frequently rode his Harley Davidson and made many dear friends along the way. Lucky was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his beloved son Joshua Dicaprie. He is survived by an older sister, Sandy, and a younger brother, Alfred Sr. Lucky leaves behind his dearly loved nephew and niece, Alfred "AJ" Johnson and Christina McElmeel both of whom he cared for as if they were his own children. He also leaves behind three grand-nieces and three grand-nephews that he loved unconditionally. A graveside service will be held at Manzanita Cemetery at 1 p.m. on April 8, 2023. Immediately following, all are invited to a reception at The Lincoln Women's Clubhouse, 499 E Street in Lincoln.
