Wrestlers compete at Reno Worlds

The Mad Dawg Wrestling Club had nine wrestlers compete at Reno Worlds and three of them came away with a medal. This is one of the biggest tournaments in the country with almost 3,000 kids competing. Connor Pollock and Alex Hurlimann placed fifth at 108 and 175 pounds, respectively, while Isaias Diaz finished sixth at 145. Most of the weight classes had between 50 and 100 wrestlers from all over the country. Pollock's weight had 67 wrestlers, Diaz's weight had 65, and Hurlimann's had 40. Pollock lost a close match in the semifinals by one point to the eventual champion. He finished with a 7-2 win over an opponent from Oregon in his fifth-place match. Hurlimann and Diaz came back the hard way as they battled back through the consolation bracket to earn a medal. Both had many matches in a row on Saturday with little to no rest in between matches, but showed their mental toughness and came through to place. Hurlimann won a couple of his matches in double and triple overtime, showing a lot of heart in the process. Diaz would walk off the mat and be called up for his next match and step right back on the mat minutes later. He perserved and got to the medal rounds the hard way. Kyle Parrott (110) and Jordan Alleva (heavyweight) finished in the top-10 in their weight classes. Also competing for the Mad Dawg Wrestling Club were Nick Fiegner (115), Tyler Rios (112), Roger Berton (119) and Matt Parker (130).
