Ronald Joseph Britto 10/28/1963 - 6/5/2023

The family of Ronald Joseph Britto is heartbroken to announce his death, June 5th 2023, from complications related to cancer. Ron will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and work mates. He was a caring, loyal, and hardworking man, with a sharp wit and infectious laugh. Everyone who knew Ron was keenly aware of his clever sense of humor. Though he put off a gruff exterior, his empathy, generosity, and friendship were always just below the surface. He loved animals, and cooking, and he loved to travel and be in the outdoors where he could partake in other passions such as fishing, hiking, and prospecting. Whatever he was doing, he was living life fully. Ron had many friends, from childhood, from work, and other places throughout the country. He could make friends easily, and once a friendship was made, he was dedicated, and loyal to it. Ron was born in San Jose, California on October 28th 1963. Soon after his birth, the family (which by then consisted of four older sisters and one older brother) moved to Fremont, CA, where he grew up. Ron often talked about an idyllic childhood with lots of freedom, and friends, and choices. He was very grateful for that childhood. Having been raised by a father who was in combat during WWII, the message of what we fought for, and why it was precious was part of his upbringing. Ron had a typical school life, and during those years he participated in Little League baseball and Pop Warner football. Later he also joined the Naval Cadet program. He graduated from Irvington High School in 1981 and went immediately into the work world. He was employed with a few different firms in the field of chemical storage testing. He enjoyed the technical aspects of the work, and the clear benefits this work was having on the environment. He eventually left that field for work in heavy construction. He lived in various cities in the Bay Area and Northern California, including Niles, Roseville, and Lincoln, where he bought a home, and lived for the last 11 years. Though he faced many difficulties as a single man keeping up with home maintenance, and a mortgage, on a single income, these were also his most rewarding years. His long-time employer Westcon was building interesting and challenging projects that he enjoyed, but he also found a family feeling there that he missed. When he became ill, his work family, his friends, his siblings and other relatives were all there to help, and to visit. Ron was preceded in death by his father, John L. Britto and his loving mother Carolyn J. Britto. He is survived by his sisters Susan, Linda, Peggy and Patti, his brother John, and their respective spouses. Ron is also survived by his many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He leaves behind those many friends he made and kept on his journey through life, from his early childhood to the home care and hospice caregivers that he met in his last days. Ron was a loving friend, brother, and mentor, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Wherever you are, please raise a glass, and smile in honor of Ron. A memorial celebration will be held in his honor.
