Timothy Cayton 1/17/1961 - 6/8/2023

It is with deeply saddened hearts that the Cayton family notifies the community of the recent passing of Timothy Brian Cayton on June 8, 2023. While surrounded by his family, he went to be with the Lord at his home in Grants Pass, Oregon, after a courageous hard-fought battle with brain cancer. Tim was born in Auburn, California, on January 17, 1961, to Genevieve Taylor Cayton and Luther Cayton. As a child, he spent endless carefree days playing with his brothers Bob, Gary, Eddie (deceased), and his sister Robin in the rural areas of Baltimore Ravine, the American River, Folsom Lake, and Auburn Recreation Park. He attended Lincoln Way Elementary, E.V. Cain Middle School, and Sacramento High School. Having first met the love of his life Judy Grove in Middle School, he married her in 1980 at the age of 19. They were soon blessed with their daughter Amanda and two sons, Brian and Benjamin, who further blessed them with 16 grandchildren. Tim worked in various construction fields and owned Cayton Construction in Grants Pass, Oregon. He faithfully loved the Lord Jesus Christ and selflessly assisted many people in Oregon, California, Idaho, and as far away as Africa. Indeed, he founded the South Valley Food Bank, the Widows and Orphans Program (a subsidiary of South Valley Food Bank), and traveled to Kenya, Africa, to build an orphanage. More recently, Tim was pursuing a farm project in Northern Idaho to provide wholesome, non-technical entertainment to children and eventually provide healthy food to the community. He was a devoted husband, a loving and attentive father, a doting grandfather, and an amazing, loyal brother. His friends describe him as "the best truly selfless friend you could ever hope to have" who "always had their back". Tim is survived by his wife Judy; his children Amanda Moman, Brian Cayton, and Ben Cayton; 16 grandchildren, his mother Genevieve; his brothers Robert and Garron; and his sister Robin. We are grateful to the caretakers and Hospice staff for their dedication and tender care of our beloved Tim. The family requests that remembrances be made instead of flowers to the South Valley Food Bank (southvalleyfoodbank.org). While we are very saddened by our loss, we are rejoicing that our beloved Tim is with the Lord. His most commonly repeated scripture was John 15:13, "Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends". When you remember Tim, please think of John 15:13.
