Lindsay Goodell

Former Folsom councilman, Lindsay Goodell, passed away June 14, 2023 at 81 years of age. He was born to Celestine and Sumner Goodell in San Francisco. Lindsay grew up in San Mateo and Sacramento (Arden Park - in the only house on a hill), eventually relocating to Folsom in 1960. Lindsay, a loving and cherished husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was preceded in death by his son, David, and grandson, Justin. Lindsay is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernette (Bunny); children; Timothy, Steven and Christine; grandchildren, James, Jonathan, Lindsey (Lily), Sebastian, Samuel, Bennett (Rosie), Julian; and great grandsons, Ford and Parker Goodell and Brooks Bernette Alcala; sister, Kathy. He is also survived by excellent additions to the family Lincoln Zevallos, Jaime Barretta, Jenny Goodell, Megan Goodell, Elijah Alcala and Jessica and Julia Mann. Lindsay graduated from Sac State, with a degree in Accounting, where he enjoyed playing on the golf team. Exactly 50 years later his namesake, granddaughter Lindsey, with an "e", graduated with the same degree (did not play golf). Lindsay was one of a kind, very special, fun, smart, loving and very funny. His sense of humor is something that saved him many times from being in trouble with his wife, Bunny. He will be remembered for his loud, happy, booming laugh that is hopefully lighting up heaven. He had many interests - He loved time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also loved golf, slow pitch softball, reading, poker, fantasy football and fishing (but was never known to have caught a fish). Lindsay was active in public service. He was a little league coach, President of the East Bidwell Street Merchants, President of the Folsom Chamber of Commerce, Secretary of Folsom Rotary (where he was also a player coach of the club's winning softball team). He was a Paul Harris Fellowship Award recipient and was also honored by the Rotary with the George Houx Black Hook Award. Lindsay, like his father Sumner, was an elected Folsom City Councilmen. During his years on the council there were many new developments: Lexington Hills, Briggs Ranch, Los Ceros, and American River Canyon in addition to the planning of many new schools and parks. The new City Hall and Community Center were built. Lindsay loved Folsom. He was proud of the city. And he was proud of his family. He will be missed by so many! We all feel lucky to have had him actively in our lives and will cherish the wonderful memories of him in our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Folsom Community Center on Sunday, June 25th at 11:00 AM.
