Roseville High School announces new principal

Roseville High School announced Ashley Serin to replace Dr. Nicholas Richter as principal. RJUSD Superintendent John Becker attributes her future success to her extensive education experience and attitude. LinkedIn Roseville Joint Union High School District (RJUSD) announced Roseville High School's new interim principal on July 21. Ashley Serin will take over for former principal Dr. Nicholas Richter as he heads into a new position with the Sutter County School District. Serin told Gold Mountain California News Media it is "a dream come true to lead a high school, work alongside incredible staff and ensure every student receives a high-quality education." "I am most excited about the possibilities we have available to us this coming year," Serin said. "Each new year brings with it unlimited possibility, excitement, hope and opportunity. I am excited for us to continue to grow and thrive!" She is also excited to see student success, to support staff in the classroom, and, "I am excited for our school to be beaming with life as students make their way back on campus after summer break." Serin foresees her main challenge in finding and maintaining balance, saying, "I must learn the intricacies of this new role, and ensure I am effective in my support of our staff, students and community. At the same time, I am a wife and a mom and my family is my number one. For me, finding this balance is going to be my greatest challenge in this first year as principal." Serin has a plethora of experience in education. She earned her bachelor of arts degree in English and a teaching credential from Sacramento State. Serin earned her master's degree from National University, according to the announcement. Serin started her career as an English teacher at Victory High School in Rocklin in 2010 and Woodbridge High School in Irvine in 2015, according to her LinkedIn page. She transitioned to administrative work in 2016 as the Coordinator of Curriculum and Instruction for the Placer County Office of Education (PCOE), said the announcement. Serin earned her administrative credential through PCOE. Serin was also an adjunct professor at William Jessup University in Rocklin in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program, according to the announcement. Serin had numerous leadership positions at Spring View Middle School in Rocklin and Roseville High School before her current position as principal, according to her LinkedIn page. She was vice principal at Spring View in 2019 and at Roseville in 2022. "I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to come to Roseville High School as an assistant principal first. I have had the opportunity to learn the school, the staff, the students, the parents, the systems, the processes and the day to day, in and out of the school," Serin told Gold Mountain News. "The transition from AP to principal at the same school site has been incredibly smooth thus far." RJUSD Superintendent John Becker said in the announcement, "Ashley's background in administration and positive energy are a natural fit for the culture at Roseville High School. I am confident in her ability to connect with the school community and promote high academic standards and support for student success."
