Rocklin welcomes 2 new commissioners to Planning, Parks & Rec

Two new commissioners took the oath of office in Rocklin this month – one for the Planning Commission and one on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Jared Thomas and London Diaz were sworn in to their roles in the newly renovated council chambers at the Aug. 8 City Council meeting. Thomas, who is a chiropractor and owns Roseville Hyperbaric Center, will join the Planning Commission. Thomas has been a resident of Rocklin for nine years. Thomas said on his application that as a small business owner, residential property owner and commercial property owner, he has experience in permitting and regulations. "I have noticed some issues with consistency, especially in the inspection process and application of California guidelines," he stated in his application. "Such inconsistencies can lead to frustrated home owners and serious delays in opening businesses. We need to be as business friendly as possible to sustain the greatness of our city." Diaz, who attends Whitney High School, was sworn in as the Parks & Recreation Commission Youth Commissioner. "I am interested in serving on the Parks and Recreation Commission because I have a passion for making our community a better place," Diaz stated in his application. "I understand that in order to improve our community, we have to value the input from residents and I believe that I am able to understand and represent the concerns and input from the youth demographic." At the Aug. 8 meeting, Mayor Ken Broadway thanked Diaz and Thomas for their willingness to serve. "Thank you for your commitment to the community of Rocklin," he said. "We are better because of individuals like you."
