Project awarded to connect Roseville Parkway by spring 2025

An extension will be made to Roseville Parkway to help further connect the city as it continues growing. The Roseville City Council unanimously passed the award of contract and budget adjustment of the project at the Sept. 6 council meeting, setting it in motion with an estimated completion of spring 2025. According to the staff report, "Roseville Parkway is a multi-lane arterial roadway providing a connection from Northwest Roseville to East Roseville and Granite Bay. The roadway is continuous except for a 0.75-mile segment between Foothills Boulevard and Washington Boulevard." The project aims to connect the .75-mile segment, Roseville Project Manager Jesse Khatkar said during the presentation. "The project will complete an east-west connection within the city, connecting fast-growing western portions of Roseville to jobs, retail centers and freeway connections in the north-central area of Roseville," Khatkar said. "The north-central area includes places like the Galleria Mall, The Fountains and connections to State Route 65 at Galleria Boulevard and Pleasant Grove." The plan was approved at a city council meeting in July 2022. Bidding opened on July 25 of this year. Construction will include four vehicle travel lanes with two lanes in each direction, ADA-compliant curbs, pedestrian sidewalks, bike lanes, a multi-use path, street lights, median landscaping, drain systems and an overpass "spanning the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks and Industrial Avenue," said the staff report. Khatkar said, "Specific to the bridge, the multi-use path and vehicle travel lanes will be separated by a concrete barrier. All barriers and faces of the bridge will have a dry, stack rock texture along with an oak leaf motif." Five bids were received. The project was estimated at about $27 million, however, bidder DeSilva Gates Construction bidded under budget at about $21 million. The project was awarded to DeSilva. Mayor Bruce Houdesheldt said after the presentation in a jesting manner, "Can you do this faster? I want to cut two miles off of my round trip out to Creekview." He further highlighted how unpleasant bike riding on Blue Oaks Boulevard is. Houdesheldt concluded, "This is great news. … It's great to see this finally come to fruition and come in under budget."
