Auburn Symphony moves indoors for 'Symphonic Sorcery'

With music still echoing through Auburn's School Park Preserve, Auburn Symphony patrons are singing the praises of Symphony & Art in the Park. This concert took place Sept. 16 and was a night comprised of Placer Artists Tour artists' beautiful works, much of which was musically inspired, tile making for the Auburn Arts Commission's new tile mural project, a drum circle, delectable noshes and of course, music. The very talented Placer County Youth Orchestra gave an outstanding performance, followed by the Auburn Symphony, masterfully performing music by George Gershwin, John Williams, Igor Stravinsky and Duke Ellington. It was described as an enchanting night. and one artist in attendance put it this way, "The combination of art, music and community is a beautiful thing. I am so proud to live in Placer County, where we celebrate by gathering together to enjoy all kinds of art." And another said, "Beautiful art, amazing live music, our community gathered and the perfect weather! What a truly lovely evening." This was the first of seven concerts. The next is Masterworks I: Symphonic Sorcery at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, at the Placer High School Auditorium. The Auburn Symphony will perform some of its favorite pieces from Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Frozen and The Wizard of Oz, as well as other magical classics, such as Igor Stravinsky's The Firebird and Paul Dukas' The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Be sure to wear your best witch or wizard costume for this one!
