Jean Agnes Blackburn, 84, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023, at her home in Auburn, California. Jean was born on December 13, 1938, in Cincinnati Ohio to Theodore and Agnes Groll. Her upbringing in Cincinnati shaped her character, instilling in her the values of compassion, kindness, and a strong work ethic. In 1956, Jean married Edward Heckenmueller (deceased 1966), and together, they welcomed four daughters into their lives: Leslie (deceased 1998), Laura (Jacek), Linda (James), and Lisa (Gregg). In her second chapter of love and companionship, Jean married Chet Blackburn (deceased 2018), and they embarked on a journey that led the family to the Auburn area, where they realized their dream of owning an idyllic property in Ophir. Jean and Chet shared a remarkable journey, creating a beautiful life on the 8 acres they called home. Their love was evident in the way they nurtured their land and welcomed family and friends. Jean found joy in gardening and taking care of the property, and together, Jean and Chet cultivated a paradise filled with blossoms and greenery that was admired by all who visited. Family was at the heart of Jean's life. While Leslie sadly preceded her in death, Jean's love for her daughters was unwavering and she imparted to them the importance of familial bonds and taking care of one another. Jean's legacy continued to grow as she welcomed nine grandchildren: Keith (Lucy), Kirsten (John), Amber (Brian), Katrina (Jacob), Stephen (Alexis), Zach, Andy, Alex, and Aaron; and eight great-grandchildren: Juliet, Stella, Logan, Sawyer, Molly, Abigail, Bentley, and Jameson. Jean's brother Ossie (Theodore Groll, deceased 2023) and his wife Jo added to Jean's cherished family circle with their four children, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Jean took delight in the company of family and friends, and her warm heart made her home a gathering place for countless gatherings and celebrations, including the beloved "donut tree" tradition. In addition to her love for her family, Jean had a passion and talent for crocheting, crafting countless blankets over the years. Her creations were a source of comfort and warmth for family and friends, and she often donated her handmade blankets to various charities.
