RAD Radio show host arrested for misdemeanor DUI in Auburn

Robert Williams, host of the popular morning radio show "Rob, Anybody & Dawn," was arrested by Auburn Police officers Friday evening, Nov. 3, for misdemeanor driving under the influence. Auburn Police Lt. Bryan Morrison said officers observed a vehicle "failing to maintain the lane in which it was traveling and a traffic stop was initiated" around 8 p.m. Friday at Highway 49 just south of In-N-Out. Morrison said officers made contact with the driver, who was the sole occupant. Morrison said officers "noticed concerns about intoxication, at which point they had a conversation about (Williams') impairment." Morrison said Williams provided a preliminary alcohol screen test and later provided an evidentiary breath sample. He was booked at the South Placer Jail. Morrison said the case will be submitted to court. Williams posted a message on the RAD Radio show's Facebook page just before 1:30 p.m. Saturday, saying there was "no excuse or justification." "It's beyond an 'error of judgment,' it's despicable and could have turned out much worse than it did," Williams wrote. "Thank God no one else was involved in any way or injured." Williams, who champions law enforcement on the show and has talked about several ride-alongs he's taken with police over the years, said the Auburn officers were "professional and courteous" and "may have saved a life, including mine." He discussed the incident during a segment of Monday's radio show.
