Dennis Wilson 3/27/1948 - 1/15/2024

On Monday, January 15th, 2024, Dennis John Wilson, a lifelong resident of California and a longtime resident of Placer County passed away peacefully with his beloved wife, Sheryl by his side in Titonka, Iowa, where they recently moved to be closer to their daughter. Dennis was being treated for Dementia at the Titonka Care Center. Dennis was born to William and Helen Wilson on March 27th, 1948, in Napa, California. He spent his early years playing and running amuck with his older brother Ken around the family farm in Rio Vista. Eventually the family relocated to Citrus Heights. Dennis attended San Juan High School where he was a wrestler, and this is where he also met his High School sweetheart, Sheryl Crawford, during his sophomore year. After high school, he went on to Idaho State University where he spent a semester wrestling, then continued his education at American River Junior College and went on to finish up his college career at Sacramento State where he majored in Business. On June 15th, 1968, Dennis and Sheryl married in Sacramento, California. They had their daughter, Tara in November of 1973. Their lives were centered around raising Brahman cattle and watching Tara show the cattle with 4-H and FFA. Dennis was President of the Western Brahman Breeders Association in the late 1980s. He and Sheryl also had many adventures on their Harleys and spent time camping, especially in Sierra City, California, at Wild Plum Campground where Dennis would go every summer when he was growing up. His biggest joy in life was his family and watching it grow. Tara ended up starting her family giving Dennis, his grandsons, Dustyn and Dakota Wilson. Some would say they were what kept Dennis out of trouble, (most of the time). Eventually, Dennis became a "Jack of All Trades" in his work life. He went on to become certified by Curtiss Breeding Services to artificially inseminate cattle, goats, and pigs. Even Tara got to go on some of his adventures through Nevada, Placer, and Sacramento counties. He began working for A1 Door out of Sacramento, doing everything from door production, trucking, deliveries, and eventually sales. After that, he started his own livestock hauling company, where he continued connecting with people all across the state of California. He retired in 2007 from Del Oro High School after being the campus monitor there. Dennis is survived by his wife, Sheryl Wilson; daughter, Tara Chaddock and her husband, Dave Chaddock; grandson Dustyn Wilson and his wife Shelby Wilson; brother, Ken Wilson; and niece Kali Wilson; Sheryl's brother Ray Crawford and wife Lori Crawford and their children Kristine Pinner and Ryan Crawford along with their families. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Dakota Wilson, and his parents William and Helen Wilson and sister-in-law Carol Wilson.
