Forbes selected by LA Sparks

McKenzie Forbes' dream came true Monday when she was selected in the WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. The Sparks used the 28th pick in the draft, the fourth pick of the third and final round, and the team's third, to choose Forbes. For her part, Forbes found out when everyone else did, on the television when her named was called. "I was at my coaches' house with about 40 other people and we were watching the draft on TV," Forbes said. "I heard my name called and it popped up on the screen and it was insane. Everyone went crazy. I started screaming. It was cool." To be chosen by the Sparks, whose home is Los Angeles, which is where Forbes played her final season of college ball at USC, it couldn't be a better match. "They were super excited about me," Forbes said. "To play for the Sparks, it couldn't have gone any better. As a kid, I had always said I wanted to play for them. So many things have to go right; what position you play, how many picks a team has, it's pretty special." Forbes will continue to work out with her personal coach before training camp begins April 28. She's due to graduate from USC with her Master's of science in entrepreneurship and innovation in May.
