Placer Superior Court commissioner retires

Placer Superior Court announced the retirement of Commissioner John L. Ross. Commissioner Ross served as a member of the bench in Placer County for the past 24 years. He was hired by the Placer Superior Court in 2000 and served as a traffic court referee until 2005, when he was appointed as a Superior Court Commissioner and presided over countless dependency, criminal, civil, traffic and family law matters, including family law court trials. In 2017, Ross transitioned to the Tahoe City Courthouse, where he has heard the criminal, civil and family law calendars serving the North Lake Tahoe communities. Ross will hear his final court calendar on April 26. Hon. Alan V. Pineschi, Presiding Judge, stated: "For more than two decades, Commissioner Ross has remained committed to this court and the people of Placer County. In all of his assignments, Commissioner Ross has treated litigants, defendants, victims, minors, witnesses, attorneys and court staff with respect, courtesy and patience. He has served our court and the people of Placer County with honor, and we congratulate and offer best wishes to Commissioner Ross as he concludes his 38-year legal and judicial career."
