Roseville incident report: Kings tickets scam, mail theft and pocket bike pursuit

The Roseville Police Department publishes a bi-weekly crime report. Here are the incidents for April 2-16: April 14 At 9 a.m., someone attempted to purchase Sacramento Kings tickets from Facebook Marketplace. They contacted a seller who had them send $100 using Zelle to purchase the tickets. They believed that, after sending the Zelle transaction, the seller would send a Ticketmaster link to the tickets. The seller stopped responding and never sent the link to the tickets. April 12 At 1:07 a.m., a man advised he saw three unknown age and race men use a pry tool to open a cluster mailbox just outside of his apartment at Gibson Drive. The men placed all of the stolen mail onto a tarp, wrapped up the tarp and left in an unknown direction out of the complex in an unknown vehicle. Two large sections of mailboxes had been accessed. One section appeared to be where most of the mailboxes were empty, and one appeared mostly full. It was unknown how many victims there were and what was taken other than mail. April 9 A woman was shopping between 11 a.m. and noon near Galleria Blvd. At checkout, she realized her wallet was not in her purse, which was in the shopping cart. After leaving the store, the bank contacted her and advised there was an attempted fraudulent charge at an unknown location. The charge was rejected so there was no loss on the card. After speaking with the bank, she contacted her credit card company to check on another card that was missing. The company stated there was a charge for $1,500 at an Apple store at an unknown location. She froze the accounts and deleted the cards from the accounts. April 8 At 2:19 a.m., someone had a pocket bike outside their Providence Way residence near their front door. Their motion camera activated and captured an unknown suspect wearing a hoodie and mask was walking across the street toward the residence. The suspect walked up toward the door and grabbed the pocket bike. At the same time, an older-model white four-door sedan came to the residence. The suspect began walking toward the vehicle with the pocket bike and left. The pocket bike was worth $200. At 6:15 a.m., an unknown suspect(s) broke into someone's garage at Secret Ravine Parkway and stole $1,310 worth of items. Between 9 a.m. April 8 and 9:30 a.m. April 11, the catalytic converter of a gray Honda was stolen. The owner said they attempted starting the vehicle and heard a loud noise. They found the catalytic converter missing when investigating the cause of the noise. There was no other damage to the vehicle. At 4:40 p.m., an unknown male suspect walked into a Pleasant Grove Blvd. business' breakroom and began looking through purses and jackets in the open or in unlocked lockers. An unknown female suspect waited outside the door to the breakroom while the man was inside. The man stole two wallets and later made fraudulent purchases on one of victim's cards. The suspects were unknown and at large. April 7 At 2:30 p.m., while in a grocery store at Sierra College Blvd., an unknown suspect stole a woman's wallet from her purse. She did not notice anyone get close to her cart where her purse was while she was in the store. She stated her wallet, which was valued at $40, contained her driver's license, social security card, multiple credit cards and $100. April 6 At 6:10 p.m., the driver of a pocket bike was observed driving on the sidewalk and through business parking lots at unsafe speeds near Pleasant Grove Blvd. When a stop was attempted, the rider failed to stop and continued driving through parking lots and then onto the bike trail. With assistance from other officers, the rider was located and detained. The rider admitted to hearing the siren and did not have a reason for not stopping. April 5 Someone mailed a check in the amount of $41,368.32 to a business vendor March 14. At 11:27 a.m. April 5, they received an email from the bank confirming the check had been deposited. The bank confirmed the correct amount, but the payee's name was changed. They notified the bank that the check was fraudulent so the check was rejected. They did not lose money. April 2 At 10 a.m., a woman stated she tried obtaining a loan after looking for a loan company. She called the provided phone number, a man answered and she provided identifying information and account and routing numbers to her bank account. After providing the information, the man said he would call back within the hour but never called back. She got suspicious and called the loan company, which advised the man did not work there. She confirmed there was no loss at that time and her bank advised they would be looking for suspicious activity.
