Send in the clowns! Circus Vargas coming to town

The circus is coming to town! If you noticed huge blue striped tents and big trucks with posters of big clown faces on the corner of East Bidwell and Oak Avenue Parkway, you have your explanation. The opening show for Circus Vargas in Folsom begins Thursday, Aug. 29. The event will take place in the Lakeside Church lot at 745 Oak Avenue Parkway through Sept. 8. Organizers describe the show as an event for children of all ages with an "epic world celebration" featuring a variety of cultures and nationalities. The two-hour show features various displays of strength and athleticism, such as contortionists, trapeze artists, a unicyclist, something called the "wheel of death," jugglers and other standard circus acts. The show also includes other entertainment such as comedy acts. There will be plenty of food and drink options on site to buy. Ticket prices start at $25 for the back arena seats and increase the closer you get to the arena, with ringside seats between $55 and $65 and VIP tickets ranging from $70-$80.
