Santa Claus is coming to town - with escorts

One of the most treasured and festive traditions during the holidays in Folsom will soon be underway: The Big Man, Santa Claus himself, is gearing up for his yearly tour of the city on his sleigh, thanks to escorts from the Folsom Police and Fire Departments. This is a fun event that has been going on in Folsom since 1986, developed by the Folsom Police Officers' Association. The sleigh is escorted by Folsom Police and Fire crews with specific stops in the community where children (or adults) can get a picture with Santa and check out their cool first responder vehicles at the same time. This event is also intended to be a food and toy donation event: The community is encouraged to donate canned food or toys at the Santa sleigh stops. The canned food will be donated to the Twin Lakes Food Bank, and toys will be part of the Folsom Police Officers' Association Toy Drive. Members of the police and fire departments will deliver the presents before Christmas to identified children in the community. According to the Folsom Police Department, 43 families have been identified who will receive these donations, which includes more than 150 children. Santa's sleigh will be escorted starting on Dec. 8 and Dec. 10-14.
