Light Rail headaches continue as SacRT drops 1 Folsom trip per hour

Light Rail glitches continue for Folsom commuters as Sacramento Regional Transit struggles with the 15-minute schedule. Headaches have continued for SacRT on the Gold Line since launching the weekday service in January. After a passing track was added to the Folsom Glenn/Holderness Station last year, SacRT boasted the railroad would come to Folsom every 15 minutes. "There are daily delays, service stops, bus bridges, etc., between Historic Folsom and Sunrise," rider Alex Levin said in an email to the Folsom Telegraph, noting passengers have been frequently asked to disembark outbound from Folsom at the Sunrise Station and wait for the next train. "Factors like power outages, weather and system constraints have occasionally impacted consistency," the agency said. To remedy the situation, SacRT dropped one train trip from Folsom per hour, authorities said. Light Rail trains scheduled to depart Historic Folsom at 44 minutes past each hour are canceled, SacRT said. The cancellation creates a 30-minute gap between service each hour. Most riders will still have a train every 15 minutes during weekday peak hours at all Folsom stations, staff said. Some trains from downtown Sacramento will now turn around at the Sunrise Station in Rancho Cordova instead of continuing to Folsom. Weekend service remains with a 30-minute wait. "We apologize to our customers for any inconvenience as part of this adjustment period, and we are doing our best to communicate with riders through announcements and messages, made both on and off the train to alert passengers when delays/disruptions such as this may occur," said Jamie Poole-Carneveri, SacRT director of customer satisfaction.
