Anne Elizabeth Murphy 12/8/1946 - 2/20/2025

Anne Elizabeth (Beth) Murphy, aged 78, of Colfax, CA, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025. Born on December 8, 1946 in Providence, RI, Beth led a full and meaningful life filled with love, kindness, and a deep commitment to both family and community. Beth was a devoted wife and loving mother, always supporting her husband and children in their endeavors and encouraging them to persevere through challenges. She emphasized the importance of education and moral responsibility while also nurturing a sense of adventure and curiosity in her children. As a grandmother, Beth prioritized regular visits with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories throughout their youth. In her life, Beth Murphy was known for her selfless giving and was a cherished member of the Murphy family, the Colfax United Methodist Church, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary of Colfax. Over the years, Beth volunteered countless hours of her time and energy to various programs, including leading CPR Saturday events; educating the public in the Smokey Bear wildfire prevention and safety campaign; hosting Safe Driver programs; producing a monthly newsletter for her church; organizing the Statue of Liberty national scholarship essay program for local students; and holding various leadership positions at church, the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and many other worthwhile organizations. She received recognition and praise for her volunteer work and was awarded the 2006-2007 Volunteer of the Year through the Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW. Beth had a great passion for helping others. She was a longtime caregiver for her husband of 41 years as he battled multiple sclerosis before his death. Later in life, she provided caregiving and emotional support to several close friends struggling with health issues. She was artistic and creative; enjoyed writing letters to stay connected; and loved taking long walks with friends and family. Her last three years of life, Beth enjoyed traveling and adventuring with her partner, Robert (Bob) MacDonald. She made a lasting impact on everyone she met and will be greatly missed. Beth was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Almon; mother, Lucy Lawrence; husband, Robert Murphy; and her three siblings, Mary Bise, Arthur Almon, and Thomas Almon. She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Pamela Solomon (Rick), Tina Bartlett (Dan), Rod Murphy (Kristin), and Randy Murphy (Sherry); her four granddaughters: Kelsey Kistner (Danny), Rachel Bartlett, Quinn Murphy, and Braelynn Murphy; and her great-grandson, Lincoln Kistner. Beth's love and guidance will be greatly missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Colfax United Methodist Church or the Colfax Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW in honor of Beth Murphy's legacy of kindness and generosity. The family extends its deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. A Celebration of Life event will be held Sunday, May 18th from 2-4p at Colfax Veterans Memorial Hall - 22 Sunset Ave, Colfax CA. Friends and family are encouraged to attend.
