Auburn first responders to battle on pickleball courts to benefit Stand Up Placer

Auburn's first responders are going to battle it out Sunday – on the pickleball courts at Regional Park. The Auburn Pickleball Club is presenting the Heroes Pickleball Tournament from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 13, to raise awareness and money for victims of abuse. Auburn Police and City Fire, CAL FIRE Auburn and California Park Rangers are competing to benefit Stand Up Placer. Visit standupplacer.org to donate. Parkinson's Care Partners meet The Auburn Parkinson's Care Partners will meet Tuesday, April 15, at 11:30 a.m. at Awful Annie's Cafe, 13460 Lincoln Way. She will discuss "Dialogue: The rules, the revelations and the room to experiment" from 10 a.m. to noon in the Rose Room of Auburn City Hall, 1225 Lincoln Way in Auburn. Dialogue is the most essential element of fiction, where the author disappears and the reader hears only the character talking. Levin will share techniques for creating effective and entertaining conversations. Levin is the author of two books on the craft of writing: Get That Novel Started and Get That Novel Written, and of five acclaimed novels, including The Talking Stick. National Model Train Show in June The National Garden Railway Convention is having two public days, Friday and Saturday, June 20-21, at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center in Sacramento for everyone to partake in a special model train event and experience all of the exciting and rewarding aspects model railroading has to offer. It will include a spectacular model train show featuring operating model train layouts, displays, merchandise and free kids make and take workshops. Times are 1-5 p.m. June 20 and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. June 21. Tickets at the door $15 for individuals 15 and $35 for the whole family.
