Roseville man sentenced for killing adopted son, 9

A Roseville man was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison for killing his 9-year-old adopted son. Cory Blakley pleaded guilty to the killing of Cyrus Blakley on Feb. 4, 2024. First responders arrived at the family's house after receiving a call for medical aid near New England Drive in Roseville. Cyrus was found unresponsive inside the home; he died three days later at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. After a brief investigation, Cory Blakley and his wife, Kimberly, were arrested on a felony charge of murder. along with other charges. The couple initially pled not guilty to the various charges against them, but in February, Cory Blakley changed his plea to guilty for murder and misdemeanor child endangerment. Kimberly Blakley's case is ongoing; she is reportedly accused of causing the child's brain injuries which led to his death. In a previous news article, Roseville Police spokesperson Chris Ciampa said the death of Cyrus was deeply tragic. "Despite extensive efforts, the child did not recover," said Ciampa. "This was a devastating incident, and our hearts go out to the family and friends impacted by this tragedy."
