Nan D. Shaw 7/23/1941 - 6/26/2025

Beloved Teacher, Musician, Artist, and Lifelong Learner.&emsp;&emsp;Nan Dolores Shaw, a cherished classical guitarist and longtime music teacher in the community, passed away peacefully on June 26th, 2025 in Auburn California. Born and raised in the Ojai Valley, Nan grew up surrounded by music, art, and spiritual inquiry—values that shaped her life and work.&emsp;&emsp;A gifted musician, Nan studied classical guitar under Vicente Gomez and carried a deep love for music into both her personal and professional life. She earned a Master's degree in Design from Chouinard Art Institute and was equally devoted to visual and musical arts, education, and spiritual growth.&emsp;&emsp;Nan and her husband, Norton, raised their four children in the Sierra Foothills, where they became deeply connected to the community. Nan taught music at Live Oak Waldorf School and at Music & More Arts Academy for many years, inspiring generations of students with her musical talent, warmth, wisdom, and grace.&emsp;&emsp;She will be remembered for her gentleness, creativity, and unwavering spirit. Nan's legacy lives on in the lives she touched through music, teaching, and quiet acts of kindness. She is survived by her three daughters, one son, and her six grandsons.&emsp;&emsp;A celebration of her life and gift of music will be held at General Gomez Arts & Events Center on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM.
