Gary Andrew Kirk 3/12/1952 - 8/03/2025

Gary Andrew Kirk, a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, and community member, passed away surrounded by family on August 3, 2025, at the age of 73.&emsp;&emsp; Born on March 12, 1952, Gary lived a full and adventurous life, wearing many hats along the way. Before settling down, he worked as a cowboy, farmer, truck driver, logger, and construction worker - earning the title of a true Jack of all trades. Gary also worked for nearly 20 years for the Placer County Assessors office. In each role, Gary brought a quiet strength, hard work, and integrity that defined him throughout his life. For the past 35 years, Gary called Foresthill home. Gary proudly served as a firefighter and later retiring as the Deputy Fire Marshal for the Foresthill Fire Protection District, dedicating himself to the safety and well-being of his neighbors. Even in retirement, his passion for Fire service continued through active involvement with the Fire Safe Council and Fire Wise communities. Gary was more than his work—he was a coach, mentor, and friend. Many local kids will remember him as their little league or soccer coach, or as the referee who showed up rain or shine with fairness and heart. His love for youth sports and dedication to shaping young lives reflected the values he held dear: teamwork, responsibility, and kindness. Above all, Gary was a devoted family man. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Susan Kirk; his siblings Kevin and Margaret; two sons, Michael and Gregory Kirk; two daughter-in-laws, Trish and Brooke Kirk; and five grandchildren, James, Makaela, Savannah, Makenzie, and Danny who brought him endless pride and joy. Gary's legacy is one of service, strength, and love. He leaves behind a community made better by his presence and a family who will carry his memory forward with deep affection and gratitude. A Celebration of Life for Gary will be held Sunday, October 12, 2025, starting at 2pm, at the Auburn Elks Lodge located at 195 Pine St, Auburn, CA, where friends and family are welcome to gather to remember a man who gave so much. There will be a Ringing of the Last Alarm Ceremony. If you have pictures, please bring a copy to share. Please be prepared to also share a written memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Firefighter's Burn Institute in honor of Gary's lifelong dedication to helping others.
