Ruth Alice Dugan 6/27/1941 - 8/1/2025

In loving memory of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Ruth passed peacefully into the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of August 1, 2025. Born in Rockdell, Minnesota, Ruth was the youngest of 7 children born to Gladys and Clifford Royce. Her family later moved to Alameda, California where she graduated from high school and where she met the love of her life, Larry Dugan. Ruth lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.&emsp;&emsp; Ruth began her professional journey in the banking industry as a teller with Bank of America. Through dedication and hard work, she rose through the ranks and ultimately retired as a manager for Placer Savings Bank in Auburn. Her career reflected not only her strong work ethic but also her ability to lead with integrity and care. A woman of deep faith, Ruth was a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Her commitment to the church extended far beyond Sunday services, as she served faithfully as a steward, teacher, treasurer and so much more. She spent countless hours volunteering and enjoyed the women's bible studies, quilting, helping with the church bazaar each year and especially helping to run the vacation bible school where she was able to plant a seed of faith and touch so many hearts. She was lovingly known as Nana Ruth by those young children. Her contributions touched many lives within the congregation and beyond. Her spiritual calling was central to her life's purpose and brought comfort and guidance to those around her. Ruth's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She had a way of making life feel special. Whether we were hiking, traveling, or just playing board games together, there was always a lot of love and laughter involved. She is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Robin Carter (Chris), Linda Pattie (Tim), and Kate Martinsen (Ole); grandchildren Erin Grover (Phil), Bobby Carter, and Emily Martinsen; and great- grandchildren Grace, Carter, Grady, and Chase. Ruth was predeceased by her beloved husband of 53 years, Larry Dugan. Through their years together they built a house in Cool where we had many family reunions and created fond memories, shared their faith with each other and those at Bethlehem, and were able to travel to places like Hawaii, Europe and Alaska, just to name a few. Together they built a legacy that will be treasured by many. Ruth will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to others, the strength of her faith, and the legacy of kindness she leaves behind. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. A memorial service celebrating Ruth's life will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Auburn on October 4, 2025 at 2:00. In lieu of flowers we ask that a donation be made to Acres of Hope in Auburn, California. Their mission is to break the cycle of homelessness for women and children and mom was very passionate about the difference they make in so many lives.
