Brandon Jay Callen 1/03/1979 - 9/13/2025

Brandon Jay Callen died suddenly, after a prolonged illness, on September 13, 2025, in Portland, Oregon, at the age of 46. A 1997 graduate of Placer High School in Auburn, California, Brandon lived most of his life in nearby Loomis, California. Brandon shared his humor, kindness, and generosity with every person he met. He made and kept friends easily wherever he traveled, and was intensely loyal. He never forgot a birthday or holiday, and always reached out to his loved ones on those special days. He could entertain a crowd or provide quiet, steadfast comfort to a friend in need; always there for those he loved. He was outrageously funny and a natural storyteller who had a knack for making people cry with laughter, then doubling down with more riffs and wisecracks. And if everyone else was having fun, Brandon's room-rumbling laugh was there too. Brandon worked more than 26 years with Xerox and Ray Morgan companies in California before relocating to Oregon in 2024 to begin a new adventure with Pacific Office Automation. He lived for the outdoors–an avid hunter, fisherman and advocate for conservation. He hated boring stories, bad jokes, pretentious people and sustained sincerity (like this obituary, for instance). He could argue with a fence post, and lived his life on his terms; proudly and fiercely independent. He is survived by his mother, Zandra Callen; his beloved Jenniffer Foster and her son, Miles; grandparents Willie "Pops" and Kathy "Meme" Callen; many other family members; and faithful dog Hector. He leaves a loyal contingent of close friends spanning decades and vast geography. He will be missed. His ashes will be scattered by loyal friends in the California wilderness he loved the most.
