Zebras roll past Marysville for PVL title

The Lincoln Fighting Zebras secured their first outright league championship since 2021 on Oct. 30, powering past Marysville 42-18. Lincoln rode behind a balanced offensive showing and a physical defensive effort to wrap up the regular season at 9-1 and secure the No. 4 seed in Division V. Senior quarterback Eli Duff led the way for the Zebras, completing 11 of 15 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns while also adding a rushing score. Lincoln's offense scored in every quarter and controlling the pace of the game with timely passing and a steady ground attack. Sophomore Mason Volzer caught three passes for 72 yards and two touchdowns, while senior Bryan Redding had six catches for 106 yards and a touchdown. Dylan Knell and Julian Defoe added rushing scores. Lincoln totaled 364 yards and averaged more than six yards per play. Brock Galer led the Zebras on the ground with 78 yards on 15 carries. Defensively, the Zebras were led by senior linebacker Kody Lowe and Devin Davis, who each tallied 13 tackles. Ben Wade, Walter Wiswell and Rameez Usman each recorded a sack while Galer had 2.5 tackles for loss. Lincoln (9-1) will host a playoff game for the first time since 2022 on Nov. 14 when it faces No. 5 Lathrop (9-1) in the first round of the D-V playoffs. The Zebras finished PVL play at 6-0 and are riding a seven-game winning streak heading into the playoffs.
