New owner takes over Folsom bagel shop

A new owner has taken over the Big Apple Bagels shop in Folsom. The business, located at 711 East Bidwell Street, opened in February 2024. Owner Andy Tang bought Big Apple Bagels from Smithers Foods of El Dorado Hills, which owns Big Apple Bagels in that area. In a statement, the company said this transition will bring "fresh energy and focus to both locations - ensuring their continued success and growth." Tang has a long history in the restaurant and retail business, according to a company statement. Tang brings more than 10 years of restaurant and retail experience to his new role as the new owner. Big Apple bagels said it sets itself apart because its bagels are made from scratch on the premises daily; they offer 18 varieties. The business will offer a wide range of bagel-based foods such as deli sandwiches, My Favorite Muffins, Brewster's coffee drinks and smoothies, and other meals for breakfast, lunch or dinner. For 10 days starting Dec. 1, Big Apple Bagels in Folsom's Rewards App will randomly reward a different person with a free sandwich every day.
