New leadership choices announced for 2026 Folsom School Board

The Folsom-Cordova Unified School District (FCUSD) announced new leadership selections for the upcoming new year. Jennifer Laret was selected to be President of the Board, YK Chalamcherla will be Vice President of the Board and David Reid was named Clerk of the Board for 2026. The selections were announced during the board's Dec. 11 meeting after nominations were submitted and a vote was taken. Laret first joined the board after winning her race in the November 2022 election; she represents Area 5, which encompasses neighborhoods in Rancho Cordova. Laret is a local businesswoman and active member of the Rancho Cordova community, with her four children having attended Rancho Cordova schools. Chalamcherla won his seat on the school board during the November 2024 election to represent Area 2, which covers areas in Folsom. Before his term serving FCUSD, Chalamcherla became a notable public figure serving on the Folsom City Council for four years, including a stint as vice mayor. Reid was elected to the FCUSD board in 2018 and was re-elected in the November 2022 election. He serves Area 3, which encompasses various areas of Folsom, including south of 50 and Folsom Ranch. Reid has already served in various leadership roles on the board, including president and vice president.
