Placer County Youth Orchestra hosts auditions

The Placer County Youth Orchestra is currently accepting applications for members for the 2010-11 season. The orchestra provides a variety of music selections to challenge students and entertain audiences. The full symphony orchestra is open to musicians in sixth grade to college.This year, the orchestra plans to incorporate choral and dance into its performance schedule. The group will also continue to feature small groups, such as a jazz band and string ensembles. Students wishing to audition must prepare and perform two scales — one major and one melodic minor — prepare and perform a musical selection showing their level of capability, and be prepared to sight read a selection provided for them by the adjudicator. Auditions will be held 3-6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 and Tuesday, Sept. 21 at Valley Springs Church, 2401 Olympus Dr. in Roseville.
