A's bring free ice skating to Northern California families

The Athletics are trading baseball diamonds for ice rinks this winter, offering Northern California families free skating sessions as part of the team's ongoing effort to build community connections. The A's are sponsoring three complimentary skate days at the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink, located at 7th and K streets. While the first session on Dec. 27 has passed, families still have two opportunities to lace up their skates for free on Jan. 3 and Jan. 10 from 10 a.m. to noon. The team's beloved elephant mascot, Stomper, will be on site during the free sessions to pose for photos with fans, adding an extra layer of excitement for children and baseball enthusiasts alike. The initiative represents the A's continued efforts to engage with the Sacramento community as the team prepares for its eventual relocation to Las Vegas, with Sacramento serving as a temporary home. For families who can't make the free sessions, the Downtown Sacramento Ice Rink remains open through Jan. 19. Regular admission is $15 for adults and $8 for children 6 and younger, with skate rental included. The rink offers youth skates starting at size 8. Standard operating hours are 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday through Sunday, weather permitting.
