Oak Ridge High students bring 'Chicago' to life in spring musical

The Oak Ridge High School Theatre Boosters announced the cast for the spring production of "Chicago: Teen Edition," set to open March 13. The classic tale of fame, fortune and murder in 1920s Chicago will feature a talented ensemble of student performers bringing the iconic Kander and Ebb musical to the stage. Maya Shamp will lead the cast as the notorious Velma Kelly, with Eva Ringger as ambitious chorus girl Roxie Hart. Eli Isham takes on the role of slick lawyer Billy Flynn, while Aki Griffith portrays Amos Hart, Roxie's devoted husband. Rounding out the principal cast are Reese Throckmorton as Matron "Mama" Morton, Amy Madsen as reporter Mary Sunshine, Will Hurtt as Fred Casely, AJ Martin as the Posse Cast leader, Summer Sparling and Lillian Lane in the Fosse Cast, and Natalee Burvant and Leilani Sullivan in the Verdun Cast. The production features a robust ensemble of 24 additional performers who will bring the razzle-dazzle energy "Chicago" demands. The production team includes director and light designer Kate Rolls, choreographer Emily Martorana, assistant director Lyla Vinciguerra, and assistant choreographer and dance captain Mia Marcale. Student assistant directors Shay Lopez and Kayla Van Osdol will support the creative team. Behind the scenes, vocal director Natalie Fletterick and lead vocal coach Christine Irish will guide the singers, while music director Nathan Tilley leads the orchestra. Set designer Abby Soroka, costume designer Christine Martorana, sound designer Jason McCarty and associate sound designer John Crawford round out the technical crew. Performances run March 13-21 at Oak Ridge High School. Showtimes are 7 p.m. on March 13, 18, 19 and 20, with matinee and evening performances at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on March 14 and 21.
