Atlantic Street in Roseville to close for 2 weeks

Ongoing safety improvements will temporarily close a short stretch of Atlantic Street at the Vernon Street intersection downtown for two work weeks, the City of Roseville announced. The closure will last about two weeks starting mid-January, according to the report. Work will occur in the daytime on weekdays. City officials urge motorists to use an alternate route or follow posted detour signs and allow extra travel time. The project includes improvements for the Atlantic and Vernon Street "S-curve" area to calm traffic, lower speeds and reduce collisions. The effort includes: raised landscaped medians, enhanced pedestrian crosswalks with lighting, green bike lanes to improve visibility, flashing beacons to alert motorists to lower speed limit zone, lane reductions to slow vehicle speeds. And to reduce collisions, left-hand turning restrictions onto Atlantic Street will be added at the smaller intersections of Almond St., Brittain St., Folsom Road, Walnut St. and Jefferson St.
