Roseville to fix Stoney Point Way drainage

Roseville officials approved plans last week to repair aging Stoney Point Way storm drainage in the Maidu neighborhood. The Roseville City Council approved the Stoney Way drainage repair project and called for bids during the consent agenda Jan. 21. The project includes rehabilitating about 1,427 feet of 54-inch corrugated metal storm drain pipe with a concrete spray liner, along with rehab of two manhole bases, authorities said. Construction is estimated at $1.5 million, funded through the Highway Users tax fund. No general funds will be used for the project, officials said. The city will use a trenchless method that minimizes surface disruption, staff said. The approach includes patching and applying the spray-on concrete liner to the interior of the pipes, restoring structural integrity and improving flow efficiency. "By opting for trenchless rehabilitation instead of full pipe replacement, the City expects to save approximately 30-40% in project costs while achieving a like-new condition," said Roseville Engineer Laura Salcedo in her report to the council. This cost-effective strategy helps maintain the critical infrastructure while preserving surface features and reducing construction impacts. Construction is anticipated to begin and be completed this summer. Work was scheduled in coordination with classes at adjacent George Sargeant Elementary School, staff said. "The schedule will allow a majority of construction to take place while school is not in session to avoid impacts during the school year," said Roseville Public Works Director Jason Shykowski.
