Entries open for Auburn AAUW'S annual Trivia Bee

OK! Here we are in 2026, and what does that mean? Well, it's time to get ready to show how much we know about "Creatures Big and Small." Yep! That's the theme coming up for AAUW Auburn's 12th Trivia Bee on Saturday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church, off Auburn Ravine. Got information about bees or crawfish? How about the eyes on flounders? Or, which is longer, the elephant's nose or the lion's tail? And of course, that's not all. You, your friends and lots of others are certainly ready for "our most significant fundraising event," according to Alexia Retallack, AAUW Auburn's branch president. "The friendly rivalry between teams makes it a fun and entertaining evening" – an evening that includes dinner and delight. The team of 2½ Natives – Delana and Anne Ruud with Bob Sehr – won last year. Will they win again? Maybe you'll win instead. As before, teams of three are forming – and Auburn AAUW hopes you're eager to participate. Find pals to join with you, and call Gayla Hibbert at 408-206-9408. Teams pay $375. If you win? Well, you get bragging rights. You also get your team's name on a revolving trophy. You get free entry into the next year's Trivia Bee. And you enjoy the honor of helping local women and girls finance their education. And if you're eager to watch? Well, come to see. Tickets for you, your friends and family are $60 each in advance, $65 at the door. Includes dinner. They're available online at Auburn-CA.AAUW.net or at Roper's Jewelers. "The money raised from the Trivia Bee supports scholarships for high school seniors, women returning to college and those transferring from two-year to four-year schools," says President Alexia. So of course, AAUW Trivia Bee helps local girls and women. Certainly. However, Retallack says it perfectly: "The audience often gets in the competition, rooting for friends and family while checking their own trivia skills as questions are asked."
