Lincoln police activity leads to arrest, school closure

Multiple people were arrested Wednesday morning after police responded to reports of a person being held against their will in the Lincoln Crossing neighborhood, an incident that led to the closure of Lincoln Crossing Elementary School as a precaution. According to the Lincoln Police Department, officers were called to the area of Green Ravine Drive and Storeyfield Lane before 6:30 a.m. after receiving reports that an individual was being held against their will. When officers arrived, multiple individuals fled the scene into a nearby location known to police. Through the investigation, police determined Matthew Medina, 36, held a female victim against her will by making statements that caused fear, according to the Lincoln Police Department. Officers also found the victim had been assaulted by Medina, resulting in minor injuries. Medina was booked into the South Placer County Jail on felony charges including domestic violence, kidnapping, false imprisonment and criminal threats. Police said there are no other outstanding suspects in the case. Western Placer Unified School District officials said Lincoln Crossing Elementary School was closed for the day out of an abundance of caution due to the nearby police activity. District officials said no students were on campus at the time of the closure and the school was expected to reopen Thursday. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public. The incident remains under investigation, and additional information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
