Author 'Ranger Rose' to speak, sign books in Roseville

Local author Rosanne S. McHenry will give a lively and engaging author talk on Feb. 21 from 2-4 p.m. at the Fig Tree Coffee, Art and Music Lounge at 217 Vernon St. in Roseville. McHenry is the author of two books, Trip Tales: From Family Camping to Life as a Ranger, and Tales from a Rogue Ranger. Both books chronicle her life as a U.S. National Park Ranger in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and Mount Rainier National Parks, and as a California State Park Ranger on the American River. These books are collections of entertaining short stories about the joys and adventures every park ranger faces. McHenry brings the stories to life in a very eye-popping, entertaining manner. "Most people have no idea what a park ranger REALLY does," McHenry laughs as she recounts her adventures. "We do everything from chasing away bears to finding lost children, stopping wildfires, giving lifesaving first aid, dealing with lawbreakers, rescuing wildlife and protecting the park. It can be downright challenging, and every day is an adventure." McHenry, also known as "Ranger Rose," will read excerpts from each book, followed by a lively question-and-answer session, a free prize drawing and a book signing.
