Roseville funds Dry Creek Greenway East Trail project

Roseville officials approved more funding last week for the ongoing Dry Creek Greenway East trail project. The Roseville City Council approved a $92,000 contract Feb. 4 with Psomas for Phase 1 engineering and a $1 million budget transfer from transportation funds for ongoing services by HDR Construction. The Dry Creek Greenway East trail project is a paved, multi-use trail along Linda, Cirby and Dry creeks. The greenway extends from Riverside Ave. and Darling Way at Cherry Glen to the city limits at South Cirby Way and Old Auburn Road. With years of input from the public dating to meetings in 2008, a preferred trail alignment was approved in 2019. The first phase from Darling Way to Rocky Ridge began in early 2024 and is estimated to be completed this year, officials said. The city made a $2.3 million agreement with Psomas for engineering and environmental permitting in 2020. The council then increased the contract to $2.57 million in 2022, then again to $2.74 million, officials said. Staff said additional work is needed for support activities, like new erosion repairs along Linda Creek and modifications to the Sunrise Avenue bridge connection. "These items of work are due to the creek meandering and causing erosion of the creek bank near the trail west of Rocky Ridge Drive, and due to unknown underground utilities found in the Sunrise Avenue area," said Roseville Engineer Cathy Gosalvez in her report to the council. The Dry Creek Greenway Trail is fully funded by federal, state and local sources. Those include "Solutions for Congested Corridors," active transportation monies, congestion mitigation and air quality funds. No general funds will be used for the project, staff said.
