4 local girls soccer teams advance to championship.

The Sac-Joaquin Section girls soccer championships are set after a stormy Wednesday night of semifinal action. Five Gold Mountain California News Media schools were in action with four advancing to the section championships on Saturday. Twelve Bridges and Rocklin both advanced to the Sac-Joaquin Section championship matches with semifinal shutout victories, putting each program in position to repeat as section champions. Twelve Bridges knocked off Oakmont 2-0, pushing its shutout streak to three. The Raging Rhinos controlled possession, created quality chances and relied on their disciplined defensive shape to secure the clean sheet. Rocklin earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Woodcreek in a tense semifinal clash. The Thunder have had a dominant postseason run as well, sliding through three playoff matches without allowing a goal. Elsewhere, Colfax rolled past Christian Brothers 3-0 to reach the final, while Vista del Lago defeated Manteca-Sierra 2-0 to advance. One local team saw its season end in heartbreaking fashion, as West Park fell 1-0 to Modesto-Gregori.
