Roger Imsdahl 11/17/1933 - 2/01/2026

Roger Imsdahl, 92, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026. Born on November 17, 1933, in Baudette, Minnesota. Roger was the youngest of six children born to Theron and Alida Imsdahl. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Jean Imsdahl, all siblings and his stepsons Glen Riggs (Tracie) and Craig Riggs. Roger proudly served in the Unites States Navy during the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He served on the USS Baltimore and was in England for the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth ll and he completed his naval service aboard the USS Missouri before being honorably discharged in Oakland, CA. While on naval leave in New York City, Roger met Jean Clark on a blind date. Their meeting led to a 33-year marriage. They married in Reno in December 1954 and settled in Oakland, California where they welcomed two daughters, Kathryn Imsdahl and Laura Scott, nee Imsdahl. In 1961 Roger moved his family to Auburn, California after accepting a job with Placer County where he built both his career and his home for the remainder of his life. Roger started his Placer County career on a survey crew, promoted to Civil Engineer, and finished in the County Counsel's Office. He served longest as Placer County's Department of Transportation Engineering, where he expanded public transportation to meet growing city needs and completed many projects in Lake Tahoe one being the "Lake Lapper" providing public transportation around the perimeter of Lake Tahoe. Roger was often recognized by the Lake Tahoe area Chamber of Commerce for his efforts in helping to shape region's growth and beauty. After Jean's death in 1987, Roger married his dear friend Sally Riggs in 1998. Together they built a joyful life filled with travel and adventure. They built a beautiful home that became the hub for family gatherings, barbeques, and numerous pool parties with friends from the Auburn Elks Club, where Roger was a member for 61 years. He will be fondly remembered for his great pool skills, which brought him joy and plenty of friendly competition over the years. Roger is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sally Imsdahl; daughters Kathryn Imsdahl (Bob Bennett) and Laura Scott (John); daughter in law Tracie Riggs (Glen); grandchildren Jake Hardey (Kristine), Leah Correa (David), Jamie Wren, Allan Scott, Alexandra Pitman (Matt), Michelle Renkert (Kevin), Justin Riggs, Morgan Riggs (Ashlyn), Cameron Riggs and 11 great grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue through the generations. Roger will be remembered for his devotion to family, his commitment to public service, his pride in serving his country and the warmth and laughter he brought to every gathering. A Celebration of Life will be held for Roger on March 21, 2026.
