Jan E. Towery 1/13/1955 - 2/16/2026

Jan Evon Towery, born January 13, 1955, in Merced, California, passed away suddenly on February 16, 2026. She was the daughter of Wright Earl Towery and Thelma Louis Towery. In 1965, Jan moved with her family to Colfax, California, where she later graduated from Colfax High School. Jan was a kind, hardworking woman who never hesitated to help others. She found joy in simple things, cooking for those she loved, tending her garden, reading, sipping coffee, and watching hummingbirds. Her enchiladas and lemon meringue pies were family favorites and made with love. Jan raised her daughter, Madralynn, in Colfax, where they shared countless moments that became lifelong memories. In 1995, they moved to Grass Valley. In 2013, Jan began working for the California Conservation Corps in Ukiah, where she proudly served as a Cook Specialist II for ten years before recently retiring from a job she truly loved. Above all, Jan cherished her family. She was a devoted mother, a loving Nana, and a proud great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter Madralynn; granddaughter Sonora; great-granddaughter Vivian; one brother; two sisters; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who were family in every way. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved grandson Alex, whom she held close in her heart; and her two faithful dogs, Brandy and Toto.
