Dutch Bros approved for Folsom Ranch Southpointe

City officials green-lighted a new Dutch Bros coffee drive-thru at Southpointe at Folsom Ranch Center. The Folsom Planning Commission approved a design review and permit Feb. 18 for a 1,025 square-foot Dutch Bros building with two drive-thru lanes at the new commercial village on East Bidwell Street south of Highway 50. Originally, a one-story, 12-foot tall, 3,000 square-foot quick serve restaurant with a drive-thru was approved with the Southpointe tentative parcel map, but the restaurant was not built, according to the report. The new project includes reduction of the previous ground floor plan, a 336-foot covered patio and increased drive-thru capacity from 14 to 20 cars. A secondary drive-thru will be added with a parking reduction of 34 to 276 spaces, staff said. The plan also calls for reconfiguration of the parking lot, signs, lighting and landscaping. The new building height will increase by one foot to 20 feet 10 inches with lower elements extending to 24 feet in height, staff said. Primary building heights may be up to 50 feet. The project is zoned community-commercial and exempt from environmental review, staff said. The Folsom Planning Commission approved the Dutch Bros proposal 6-0 with Commissioner Justin Hurst absent.
