Chapa-De health center in Rocklin anticipates 2027 opening

If you have driven on Sunset Boulevard and West Stanford Ranch Road recently, you've probably wondered what the construction is. That construction is the future home of Chapa-De Indian Health Center, scheduled to open in early 2027. Chapa-De Indian Health was founded in 1974 after a study showed American Indians in the area experienced worse health outcomes and experiences than the general population. Over the last 50 years, Chapa-De has experienced widespread growth and is proud to now provide comprehensive healthcare services to the South Placer region. "The location choice was made based on two factors, current Chapa-De patients living in the South Placer region and estimates of underserved community members in the area. Today, Chapa-De serves approximately 3,000 patients from South Placer and Sacramento counties. In addition, over 60,000 residents in Rocklin, Roseville, Lincoln and neighboring communities are eligible for care through Medi-Cal, representing nearly 80 percent of everyone enrolled in Medi-Cal in Placer County," CEO Lisa Davies said in an interview with Gold Mountain California News Media. "Despite this significant need, the region has very few medical, dental or mental health providers who accept Medi-Cal, leaving many community members with limited access to essential healthcare services. Our new South Placer Health Center will allow our current and future patients to access high-quality care close to home." Chapa-De brings compassionate, culturally rooted care closer to home for families in the area with its new 62,000 square-foot health center. "The new South Placer Health Center will expand Chapa-De's overall capacity to serve American Indian/Alaska Native, Medi-Cal and Medicare patients by 60 percent. About 3,000 of our existing patients already live in the South Placer region and beyond," Davies said. "They travel to Auburn and Grass Valley for care at Chapa-De. By bringing services closer to home, we are strengthening access to care for these individuals and families." As a tribal health center, Chapa-De is also able to offer hiring preferences to qualified AI/AN applicants, allowing them to serve the community in even more ways. "Chapa-De currently serves approximately 25,000 active patients at our Auburn and Grass Valley locations. Once fully operational, the South Placer Health Center will extend care to approximately 15,000 additional patients," Davies said. "In total, the South Placer Health Center will create over 500 construction jobs, and once completed, we anticipate hiring over 150 new team members to staff the location. The new location will be hiring for a variety of roles from doctors, dentists, therapists, nurse practitioners to IT technicians, call center representatives and dental assistants."
