Nature headlines upcoming art exhibit

Combining dark serene objects fashioned from wood with large colorful nature scenes can result in an engaging art exhibit. Such an eye-catching display of large paintings alongside finely finished coffee tables is the work of Janelle Daigle, painter, and Jim Sizemore, woodworker, and is now on display at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1279 High St., Auburn. Daigle paints large canvases with her hands rather than brushes. Subject matter is exotic places she would like to visit one day, after she reaches retirement age. Another goal is to share her talents with students. Sizemore is a longtime member of Bethlehem who loves wood. He retired from his construction business and transferred his interest into creating intricate wood furniture pieces, bowls and walking sticks, now with assistance of his son James. Some pieces are made from found black oak and grapefruit trees. This exhibit will continue through April 30. Current viewing hours are 11 a.m. Sundays and 12:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
