Auburn's 50th St. Patrick's Day Parade returns to traditional route

Auburn's 50th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will be hosted this year by Quad Air Communications and AER Communications. The event marks a return to the parade's "official unofficial" roots, as the Auburn Chamber of Commerce will not be involved in organizing the celebration. The parade will follow its traditional route, beginning at the top of Lincoln Way, continuing to High Street, crossing Auburn Folsom Road and ending on Sacramento Street. "There are no official street closures. No impact to business in terms of shutting anything down or moving people around or things along those lines," said Alexia Retallack of AER Communications. "It's going to be run like it has historically." After it was announced that the Chamber would not participate this year, Retallack, Al Gonzalez of Quad Air Communications and others stepped in to organize the parade and secure a city permit. Participation is free, but the parade will be limited to vehicles only, and all traffic laws must be followed.
