Kaiser, PlacerGROWN host farmers market

The Kaiser Lincoln Farmers Market is the right place to shop local and support the community. Open year-round, rain or shine, every Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on 1900 Dresden Drive, Kaiser Lincoln Farmers Market offers a wide variety of fresh produce, baked goods, hand-crafted drinks and a family-fun atmosphere for everyone to shop and enjoy. The Kaiser Permanente Farmers Market Organization was founded in May 2003 at the Oakland Kaiser Hospital by Dr. Preston Maring through a partnership with the Pacific Coast Farmers Market Association to provide fresh produce to patients, staff and the public. Juanita Wrice, owner of Crafts by the Steinackle's, was one vendor selling local handmade air plant displays. "What inspired me to start my business is that I was doing office work for over 30 years and had a hard time finding a job. I had a lot of people tell me I should start my own business because I had my crafts in the office," Wrice said. "My husband said I should do more at what I'm good at and just go for it; he's the one that inspired me." Although Wrice has only been a vendor for a little more than a month, she has noticed a positive impact and presence the farmers market brings the community. Noah Goodman, owner of Serenity Global Restoration, was another vendor selling locally harvested jams and honey. "We grow all our berries and plants in the mountains, use experimental fish farming and heat capture from our glass-blowing facility to help protect society from the elements and spread knowledge," Goodman said. "Our products are exquisite, delicious and organic. We use nothing but the best methods and best produce. Our farm is Serenity Organic Farms in Yuba City." The Kaiser Farmers Market continues to offer more than just fresh produce and handmade crafts, it's a place where neighbors connect, local farmers share their harvest, and the community gathers around healthy living. As shoppers head home with bags full of seasonal fruits, vegetables and handmade goods, the market stands as a reminder that good food and strong communities often grow side by side.
